TWO motorbike riders have tested positive for cannabis after being pulled over on the Hume Highway.

The Sydney men were intercepted while travelling north near Springhurst yesterday.

The 64-year-old Kings Langley resident and 57-year-old Alexandria resident both returned positive drug readings and were released pending inquiries.

The duo were stopped as part of Operation Moto Safe, targeting riders going to and from the Australian Motorcycle Gran Prix in Phillip Island.

Leading Sen-Constable Lee Thomson said the drug-drivers lost their licence for three months and received a $443 fine.

“All officers, regardless of their work environment, will respond if they observe irresponsible behaviour on our roads,” he said.

“You can be caught anywhere at any time.”
