ALLEGED CANNABIS RING LEADERS FACE COURT | NBN News

Two brothers accused of heading up a multi-million dollar cannabis smuggling ring, have faced Southport court.

Terrence Thornbury and his brother Joshua, are accused of being the ring-leaders of a gang that allegedly hid $18 million dollars worth of cannabis in suitcases – which travelled between Victoria and Queensland.

Laywers have raised questions about the case.

“It’s based on telephone intercepts and under surveillance that in my opinion can’t be proven at this stage. At this stage it’s all based on assumptions of what words can mean in telephone conversations between people and inferences that are drawn.”

James Chalkley was the only alleged gang-member released on bail, as he’s been diagnosed with leakemia.
