ILLEGAL drugs have become “freely available” in Turnford, leading to a police clampdown.
A total of 17 arrests have been made in the first three months of 2014 over the use of cannabis in the area following an escalation in the number of police patrols.
At the Broxbourne and Wormley area forum last night (Wednesday April 16) PC Kevin Ford explained that it had become a top priority after a “high degree” of usage of the class B drug was occurring near the Hertford Regional College campus.
“It’s all over the place and freely available,” he said, urging members of the public to be vigilant and contact police.
“It’s about being there and reporting it.
“We are present in the area, making arrests and we are getting some good results.”
The usage seems to be mainly among young people, PC Ford added.
“The college are working with us and suspending students.
“We are getting through to some of them, but not all of them.”
