    Forecasters say high winds and heavy rains are expected across much of Georgia, with wind gusts up to 35 mph. An advisory, which will be in effect from 1 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday, covers much of central and north Georgia, from Rome, to Americus, and Vidalia.More >>









Gov. Nathan Deal is doing what state legislators wouldn’t do taking steps to possibly allow the use of cannibus oil to treat debilitating seizures.


The governor wants clinical trials to study medical marijuana and lay the groundwork for legislation next year.


Medical marijuana legislation failed in Georgia this year because Senate leaders wouldn’t pass it unless the House approved insurance coverage for children with autism.


Political rivals are criticizing the governor for taking executive action where lawmakers failed.


But we see it as an important step to possible offer relief to seizure patients who were unfortunately caught in this year’s political crossfire.
