A man and woman who appeared to be asleep and “under the influence” in a car with their infant child inside were arrested in Anne Arundel County, the county police said.
Police said packages of what was suspected to be synthetic marijuana were found in the car along with “smoking devices.”
The man and woman were found in the front seat of the car about 5:20 p..m. Saturday in a restaurant parking lot on Generals Highway in the Annapolis area. Paramedics had to “physically wake” them, the police said.
Police said the 8-month old boy, who had been in the back seat, was released to a grandfather. The child appeared unharmed, police said.
Authorities said they arrested Brooke Amber Michael, 20, and Michael Patrick May, 20, both of the 2000 block of Quaker Way in the Annapolis area. In addition to neglect, they were charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, the police said. The suspected synthetic marijuana is to be tested, police said.
