Ambitious Mom Builds Giant My Little Pony Cake
Maria Young asked her daughter Emily what kind of cake she wanted for her 8th birthday. Precocious Emily said she wanted a My Little Pony cake that was big enough for her to ride. Well, she got one! The over four-foot tall cake took Maria a week and about $266 to create. It’s built around a wooden frame, the legs neck and head are made out of Rice Krispie treats, and the body consists of 16 sponge cakes with blueberry filling. All in all, the almost 5-foot long cake took 57 pounds of pink icing, 86 eggs, and 32 boxes of Rice Krispies. Oh yeah, it fed about 900 people. And no, they weren't all at Emily's birthday party.
