Stealing from M&S and possessing cannabis among cases heard by Coventry magistrates

Cases heard at Coventry Magistrates Court on Friday, March 28, included:


Shannon Abell, 18, of Rotherham Road, Holbrooks, admitted breaching a community order by failing to attend supervision. She was given a four-week curfew.


Christopher Duddle, 35, of no fixed address, admitted stealing six boxes of detergent and two cans of deodorant worth £31.44 from Tates Spar, fresh meat worth £52.57 from M&S, various toiletries and detergents worth £52 from Tates Spar, cold meats worth £104.27 from M&S, meat worth £118.83 from M&S, meat and toiletries worth £84.97 from Tates Spar, cold meat worth £139.74 from M&S, and meat worth £64.18 from M&S. He was jailed for 32 weeks.


David Price, 36, of no fixed address, admitted stealing various toiletries worth £52 from Tates Spar, meat worth £52.57 from M&S, cold meats worth £104.27 from M&S, meat worth £118.83 from M&S, meat and toiletries worth £84.97 from Tates Spar, cold meat worth £139.74 from M&S, meat worth £64.18 from M&S, failing to attend a drug dependency assessment and breaching a community order. He was jailed for 32 weeks.


Gerard Melody, 43, of Gordon Street, Earlsdon, was convicted in his absence of breaching a suspended sentence by failing to attend treatment. He was jailed for 12 days – suspended for 12 weeks – with alcohol treatment and supervision.


William Majemite, 27, of Baldwin Croft, Foleshill, admitted two counts of possessing cannabis. He was fined £100 and told to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs.


David Smith, 25, of St James Lane, Willenhall, admitted breaching a community order by failing to attend unpaid work. He was fined £50.


Darren Jaques, 25, of Tarquin Close, Willenhall, admitted going equipped to steal (bolt croppers). He was given a 12-month community order with 40 hours’ unpaid work and programmes and supervision requirements, and told to pay a £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs.


Darren Waring, 21, of Sandy Lane, Radford, admitted persistently using a public communications network for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety, and breaching a conditional discharge. He was given a 12-month community order with supervision, and told to pay a £60 victim surcharge.


David Huskinson, 23, of Jenner Street, Hillfields, admitted assault by beating. He was jailed for 16 weeks – suspended two years – with programme and supervision requirements, and a restraining order, and told to pay £50 compensation and an £80 victim surcharge.


Cameron Drane, 20, of Aldrich Avenue, Tile Hill, admitted entering a building as a trespasser and stealing an Xbox and games, and Blue-Ray movies, worth £700. He was given an 18-month community order with 60 hours’ unpaid work, and drug rehabilitation, programme and supervision requirements, and told to pay £270 compensation and a £60 victim surcharge.


Steven Edmonds, 60, of Kineton Road, Wyken, admitted drink-driving (246mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. Legal limit is 80 mg). He was fined £665, banned from driving for 28 months, and told to pay a £66 victim surcharge and £85 costs.


Mikira Parsons-Spencer, 19, of Broad Park Road, Henley Green, admitted breaching a suspended sentence by failing to attend unpaid work. Given an extra 21 hours’ unpaid work.


Cases heard at Coventry Magistrates Court on Saturday, March 29, included:


Andrew Finnie, 43, of Harnall Lane West, Foleshill, admitted stealing three jars of coffee worth £23.67 from Heart of England Co-op, attempting to steal two jars of coffee worth £15.78 from Heart of England Co-op, and handling 19 packets of stolen batteries worth £19 from Poundland. He was fined £180 and told to pay a £20 victim surcharge.
