CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) – Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordon has more than just an NFL suspension to worry about.

Gordon was pulled over during the Memorial Day weekend and cited for speeding while a passenger was found to have marijuana in their possession.

WKYC TV-3 was first to report the traffic stop of Gordon.

“We are gathering information regarding the situation. We will not have any further comment until the appropriate time,” general manager Ray Farmer said in a statement released by the team.

Gordon, who was stopped on Interstate 71 just north of State Route 82 on Sunday at 9:43 p.m. while driving his 2014 grey Mercedes-Benz SUV, was cited for speeding and is due in court June 4. According to the citation Gordon was going 74 in a 60 mph zone on May 25.

According to WKYC, Gordon’s passenger was issued a citation for possession of marijuana in an amount under 200 grams during the traffic stop. The marijuana was found in a blue bag with identification and the passenger admitted it was theirs and not Gordon’s.

Gordon and the Browns are still awaiting word from the NFL league office concerning a possible suspension for the 2014 season. On May 9 ESPN’s ‘Outside the Lines’ reported that he failed another drug test and could be suspended for the 2014 season.

Gordon led the NFL in receiving yards last season with 1,646 and he led the Browns in receptions (87) and touchdowns (9) in just 14 games after returning from a 2-game suspension earning him his first Pro Bowl appearance.

Gordon failed a drug test in Feb. 2013 which he attributed to prescribed cough syrup that contained codeine. He was suspended 2 games and fined 4 game checks by the league.

This isn’t the first time Gordon has run afoul of traffic laws either. Last year Gordon was ticketed twice for speeding and he was convicted of 2 traffic offenses after pleading no contest in court. He paid a total of $296 in fines and court costs.
