2 large, illegal marijuana grows found near Trinidad

TRINIDAD, Colo. -

Authorities say they have destroyed more than 1,300 marijuana plants that were being illegally grown in the Trinidad area.

The Chronicle-News reports Trinidad police received a call Aug. 14 from the owner of a rental property who discovered a large grow operation while trimming trees. Officers found 818 marijuana plants worth $490,800 but determined the property owner and the renter did not know about the grow operation.

The marijuana was not visible from the rest of the yard or the street.

In a separate investigation, 31-year-old Greg Fellows, of Henderson, Nevada, was arrested Aug. 6 after Las Animas County sheriff’s deputies found an illegal grow operation west of Aguilar. Deputies found 549 plants and about 35 pounds of processed marijuana.
