McLean Co. Zoning Board to consider rezoning for Downs cannabis cultivation center

BLOOMINGTON — On the McLean County Zoning Board of Appeals agenda for Tuesday, Sept. 2 is a motion for a cannabis cultivation center at   23676 E. 800 North Road, Downs.

The property is in unincorporated Downs, so the village has no say in zoning requests.

Downs Mayor Mike James said he had not been contacted by the company, and he found out about the request the day before the item was published in local papers.

The motion is to have the property rezoned for the purpose of placing a medicinal cannabis facility and it is a recommendation to the county board for their Sept. 16 meeting.

The special use application was applied for by Timothy Jones, president and owner of MWAA, Inc.

The meeting will take place 7 p.m. at Room 400, Government Center; 115 East Washington Street
