NDLEA destroys cannabis worth N619m in Akure | Weed Blog - We Love The Herb


The Nationwide Drug Regulation Enforcement Company has destroyed 86,779.1kg of cannabis worth N619m in Akure, the Ondo State capital.


The destruction of the medicine was in compliance with an order by Justice Ishaq Sani of the Federal Excessive Courtroom sitting in Akure.


In a press release made obtainable to our correspondent by NDLEA’s Head of Public Affairs, Ofoyeju Mitchell, on friday, the destruction of the cannabis introduced the full amount of medicine destroyed in the state since 2011 to 184,575.52kg.


Ondo State Command of the company destroyed 36,740.52kg of medicine in 2011 whereas sixty one,055.9kg of forfeited cannabis was additionally set ablaze in 2012.


As well as, fifty one hectares of cannabis plantation have been destroyed and ninety two drug traffickers, comprising 86 males and 6 have been females, arrested. Seventy-eight of them have been between the ages of 20 and 50 whereas 9 have been inside ages eleven and 20.


The assertion added that the command seized fifty one,092.95kg of cannabis from drug barons whereas sixty five individuals with drug abuse issues have been counselled.


Whereas reacting, the state deputy governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, recommended the NDLEA for the success of its drug management programmes in the state. “The seizures of medicine and raid operations by the company in the final three years have introduced sanity to the state in phrases of drug trafficking,” he stated.
