Meaningful reform of federal cannabis laws unlikely in short term.

There has been some small movement in efforts to reform marijuana laws at the federal level recently. In mid-July, Reps. Scott Perry (R-Pa.), Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) and Paul Broun (R-Ga.) introduced a bipartisan bill, the “Charlotte’s Web Medical Hemp Act of 2014,” and in the Senate, Sen. Rand Paul filed an amendment to a jobs bill that would change federal law enforcement’s ability to enforce federal marijuana laws in places where cannabis is legal. For analysis of these efforts and the likelihood of meaningful reform at the federal level, CRN’s Brian Bahouth spoke with Morgan Fox, spokesperson for the Marijuana Policy Project.
