Dwight man charged with growing and selling cannabis

DWIGHT – A 43-year-old Dwight man was arrested Tuesday for the manufacturing and delivery of cannabis, which included more than 200 cannabis plants.

The Joliet Metropolitan Area Narcotic Squad (JMANS) agents, assisted by Grundy County Sheriff’s deputies, arrested Charles L. Johnson Jr. of 7375 S. Holm Road, Dwight on charges of manufacturing and the delivery of cannabis, according to a news release from Sheriff Kevin Callahan’s office. Johnson is currently being held in the Grundy County Jail.

Callahan said an outdoor cannabis grow in rural Grundy County was detected by the Illinois State Police Air Operations Unit. The cannabis grow was put under surveillance and confirmed by JMANS. A search warrant was executed by Grundy County Sheriff’s deputies and JMANS and as a result of the search warrant, 206 cannabis plants, three firearms, five pounds of cannabis bagged for sale, and U.S. currency was seized.

“I’m very proud of the work done by the MANS agents, sheriff’s deputies, and the ISP Air Operations Unit. They conducted a thorough investigation which resulted in the arrest of Charles Johnson,” Callahan said in the release.
