Overnight diapers get more soiled and so they tend to be your albatross when you have a wash problem. Bleach soak to get back to square 1 (1/2 c in your washing machine, soak 30 minutes and then wash and rinse). I would do this with all of your diapers because they probably aren’t clean either, they just don’t smell yet. Then consider changing to a stronger detergent (do you already use Tide powder?), using more detergent, running a longer cycle, etc. I just had this issue and adding some detergent to the prerinse and some Oxyclean to the wash (in addition to Tide, obviously) is working for us.
I don’t have personal experience with hard water but I’ve heard that you shouldn’t rinse too much because you will get mineral buildup on the diapers. No idea what that even means, though. :)
