Four pounds of marijuana found during traffic stop


A traffic violation in downtown Chillicothe late Friday led to the discovery of four pounds of marijuana and a felony charge for the driver, the Ross County Sheriff’s Office reported.


A deputy was leaving to begin his patrol shift at about 11 p.m. when he witnessed the traffic violation by John Tatman, 43, at the intersection of Water and Mulberry streets, according to a press release.


The deputy approached the vehicle and observed a box in the back seat that appeared to contain a large quantity of marijuana. After further investigation, it was determined the box contained more than four pounds of marijuana, the release states.


Tatman was charged with felony possession of marijuana.
