A CLARKSTON JUDGE GOT GOT A BIG SURPRISE THIS AFTERNOON.
A LAWYER DRESSED AS A JEDI NIGHT—WALKED IN AND SERVED
A VERY CONTROVERSIAL LAWSUIT.
KXLY4S ALYSSA DONOVAN IS LIVE IN CLARKSTON.
ALYSSA, YOU SAY THIS IS OVER A MARIJUANA POT SHOP?
THAT’S RIGHT NADINE— KELLY JACKSON HAS BEEN WORKING
TO OPEN A POT SHOP ON 6TH STREET IN DOWNTOWN CLARKSTON.
SEVERAL CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS HAVE BEEN FIGHTING HIM
EACH STEP OF THE WAY.
When Kelly Jackson decided to open a marijuana shop.
he felt it would help his community.
KELLY JACKSON, MARIJUANA SHOP OWNER
:-Kelly we believe that we can grow the economy or
grow the cartels.
Which way should we go as a country here.
:
and his reason for wanting the business waas to share
relief from medical conditions like his,
JACKSON
:- Kelly.
I’d had asthma for 44 years and my doctor told me
to try using cannabis extract.
And I haven’t had asthma since.
:
But several council members do not want his shop to
open.
TERRY BEADLES, CITY COUNCIL MEMBER
Terry.
The kids are so easily influenced.
If they see it being sold on 6th street then its okay
to use.
And now after voting down an ordinance to allow the
shop—- the council is drafting another ordinance
to ban the sale of marijuana in the city.
The ordinance is the last straw for Jackson.
Friday he filed a lawsuit against city council.
JACKSON
:- Kelly.
The planning committee put out the right ordinance.
And the city council adopted that right ordinance
and now they are voting against it and that’s in contrast
to their oath of office.
:
And as it was Halloween– his lawyer dressed as a
Jedi knight.
Whether a fictional hero filed the suit or not—
Clarkston resident Isabel landkammer says it had to
be done.
ISABEL LANDKAMMER
:- Isabel.
What else are they gonna say is wrong for us to do.
That’s not why I vote people into power.
I vote them into power so they can be a voice for
me.
THE CITY WILL BE VOTING ON THE ORDINANCE TO BAN THE
SALE OF MARIJUANA ON NOVEMBER 24TH.
REPORTING IN CLARKSTON, I’M ALYSSA DONOVAN KXLY4 NEWS.
