ARVIN, Calif. – The Kern County Sheriff’s Office Major Violator Unit ended a month-long investigation of an illegal marijuana growing operation.
Officers say the operation was located in a rural mountain area on a privately owned ranch, located southeast of Arvin.
Officers said they had a search warrant and the KCSO SWAT team and members of the HIDTA narcotics task force assisted the MVU in the early morning hours on Friday.
Officers say three suspects were arrested in two separate gardens which were located less than one mile apart.
Two shotguns, one 44 Magnum firearm and approximately 1,800 marijuana plants were found within the gardens, officers said.
Officers arrested 38-year-old Bakersfield resident Artemio Alvarez for possession of methamphetamine, cultivation of marijuana and trespassing.
Officers also arrested 36-year-old Juan Sosa and 47-year-old Felipe Vazquez from Madera, Calif. for cultivation of marijuana, conspiracy and trespassing.
All three suspects were booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
