Cannabis worth up £250,000 has been seized from a house in Mansfield.
The force’s Cannabis Dismantling Team, acting on a tip off from the public, raided a house in Stella Street at 9.30am today, Tuesday 15th July.
Around 400 plants, estimated to be worth about £240,000, have been recovered from the top floor of the detached building.
Sgt Jim Wells said: “This call has come in to us not long after we supported the Crimestoppers ‘Scratch and Sniff’ campaign in June, during which time cards were sent out to the public to provide an example of what cannabis plants smell like. During this week we also introduced our specialist dismantling team and outlined the expert work we are doing to rid cannabis and its producers from Nottinghamshire.
“Today’s find is illustrative of the faith people have in us to investigate their concerns and, wherever possible, act on this information by seizing illegal drugs and making arrests.
“The scene in this case is now being forensically examined as part of the investigation into, what looks to be, quite an established grow.”
If you have any information about this case contact police on 101, quoting incident 184 of 12 July 2014.
If you suspect someone of growing cannabis call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
