A rookie cop had her teeth knocked out by a suspect who was caught smoking pot inside of Harlem projects, police said.
The woman, whose age was not released, was assigned to an Impact team in a high-crime area in Upper Manhattan, according to the NYPD.
The uniformed officer and her partner were patrol when they walked through the rear entrance of Clinton Houses on Park Avenue, near East 105th Street around 1:30 a.m., police said.
They saw three men and one woman smoking marijuana on the first floor and moved in to make an arrest, but before any of the potheads were cuffed, one of the men punched the female cop in the mouth, knocking out several teeth and breaking several others, cops added.
All four suspects ran off while the officer’s head slammed onto the floor, police said.
The cop was rushed to New York Presbyterian Hospital for emergency dental surgery, authorities said. She also suffered cuts on her face and head pain.
None of the suspect have been caught and investigators have not recovered any video surveillance of the attack, sources said.
Officers are assigned to Operation Impact as soon as they get out of the Police Academy.
