HACKETTSTOWN — Two teens face marijuana charges following a traffic stop on East Stiger Street on July 16.
At about 9:36 p.m., a Hackettstown police officer stopped the vehicle the teens were in for an alleged moving violation, and reportedly smelled marijuana.
The driver, a 17-year-old boy from Allamuchy, and the passenger, a 16-year-old boy from Great Meadows, had marijuana and paraphernalia with them, police said. According to police, “between the two juveniles, there were a total of 2 marijuana smoking pipes, 1 bong, 1 grinder containing suspected marijuana, 1 large bag containing suspected marijuana, 4 small baggies containing suspected marijuana, 2 glass jars containing suspected marijuana and 128 empty small Ziplock baggies confiscated.”
Both boys were charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver was also issued a summons for speeding. Both were released pending a court appearance.
