The Ridgway Town Council tabled a proposed ordinance that would have limited commercial marijuana cultivation in the town to using agricultural irrigation water, after hearing strong opposition from potential growers during the council’s regular meeting on July 9.
The Plaindealer previously covered a town work session on commercial marijuana grow facilities held on June 4.
During the June 4 meeting, several council members expressed concern with the water usage and industrial-like scale of some of the large grow facilities proposed in Ridgway.
On July 9, Ned Bosworth of Trail Town subdivision spoke on behalf of his tenant Jacob Strength of Crazy B’s Smoke Shop and expressed frustration with the town adding new requirements through the proposed ordinance for his tenant while they patiently waited to receive a license for recreational marijuana sales from the state.
