Unemployed man grew cannabis in girlfriend's home - because he was 'too embarrassed' to ask for ...

CANNABIS user Stanley Eadson lost his job and was “too embarrassed” to ask for handouts – so he began growing his own drugs at his ex- girlfriend’s home, a court heard.

Police found ten pots in former partner Emma Potts’ shed and airing cupboard in Jenkins Avenue, Mansfield.

More than 70 “deal bags” were found in a kitchen cupboard as well as cannabis-growing equipment on July 3 last year.

Eadson, 26, of Ravensdale Road, Mansfield, had started growing when he was out of work, Nottingham Crown Court heard.

Judge Michael Stokes QC, sentencing, said Eadson was also getting cannabis from elsewhere because his plants were not mature enough.

Eadson pleaded guilty to conspiring to produce cannabis, possessing it and being concerned in its supply.

Judge Stokes gave him 12 months in prison, suspended for 12 months, and 140 hours of unpaid work.

Since his arrest, the judge noted that Eadson had found work as a labourer.

Potts, whose tenancy ended after the cannabis was found, pleaded guilty to allowing her former home to be used to grow cannabis. She was handed a 12-month community order, 60 hours of unpaid work and a specified activity requirement from the probation service.

The 25-year-old full-time mum held hands with Eadson in the dock even though their relationship had broken down. Judge Stokes told her: “You are the mother of two children. To send you to prison would be unfortunate for them.”
