Protestors gather outside of Henderson Co. courthouse. (July 14, 2014/FOX Carolina)HENDERSONVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -Protestors in support of medical marijuana gathered outside of a North Carolina courthouse on Monday as the trial for a man accused of growing more $180,000 worth of marijuana was set to begin.
According to protestors, jury selection begins Monday for Todd Stimson.
Stimson was arrested in July 2013 and charged with manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling to keep controlled substances, possession with intent to sell/deliver controlled substances, felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Fletcher police said a drug investigation led to the discovery of 75 marijuana plants worth more than $180,000 at Stimson’s Fawnhurst Lane home.
Protestors with signs and were chanting “Free Todd Stimson” and “No victim, no crime” outside of the courthouse on Monday.
According to protestors, Stimson had the proper permits to sell medical marijuana and paid the state taxes in connection. They believe he was wrongly charged.
Protestors also said they want cannabis legalized in North Carolina.
