A Crowther man will be sentenced in the District Court after he admitted his part in cultivating $5 million worth of cannabis.
Malcolm Roy Howarth pleaded guilty in Young Local Court yesterday to knowingly taking part in cultivating a large commercial quantity of a prohibited plant.
Howarth was arrested when a Crowther property was raided on February 12 as part of the ongoing anti-drug operation called Strike Force Oceanic.
Police uncovered 2750 cannabis plants on the property, ranging in height from 15cm to 70cm with a street value of $5 million.
The raid was part of a simultaneous sweep across southern NSW which also allegedly netted $9 million worth of ice in a car near Gundagai, also on February 12.
A property at Yenda was also searched.
A number of men are before the court on the south coast in relation to the alleged ice find at Gundagai.
Young Local Court heard agreed facts were still being settled between of the Director of Public Prosecutions and Howarth’s legal representatives.
They are expected to be finalised before Howarth’s case is mentioned in Queanbeyan District Court on December 8.
