Charges over £158k cannabis in Belfast

Two men have been charged with drugs offences after police removed a “significant” amount of cannabis from circulation in north Belfast.

Over 300 plants believed to be worth £158,000 were seized during a raid in the Eia Street area of the city on Wednesday afternoon.


Two men aged 45 and 23 were arrested and later charged with offences including cultivating cannabis and possessing a class B drug with intent to supply.


They are due before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Friday.


“This operation has resulted in a significant amount of cannabis being removed from circulation in the north Belfast area,” said Chief Inspector Gary Reid.


“As well as over 300 plants, cultivation equipment and associated items have been removed for further examination.”


Anyone with further information has been asked to come forward.
