Man charged over Belfast cannabis haul

A 40-year-old man has been charged in connection with cannabis seized in Belfast city centre with a street value of £560k.

The drugs along with a substantial sum of money were seized by police in the Donegall Quay area on Wednesday.


The man is accused of eight offences including converting a criminal property, possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply and two counts of importing a controlled drug.


He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning.


Two further arrests were made as part of the operation and searches were also carried out in south Belfast, Carrickfergus and Portadown.


A 29-year-old woman has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.


A 30-year-old man arrested in Portadown remains in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
