Opinion Line (Oct. 20)

I’m trying to think of one retired senator or congressman from Kansas who actually lives here. They say they want to fight for Kansas values, but then when they retire Kansas isn’t good enough for them. It’s news when our beloved Bob Dole comes back to visit.

Sen. Pat Roberts does not seem to understand that he is the problem – after years of doing nothing, just saying “no” to most bills and not taking Dole’s advice regarding compromise.

If you heard or read the responses to the request that Roberts and Greg Orman say something nice about each other, they tell you all you need to know about the character of each candidate.

If I had an employee who didn’t show up for work two-thirds of the time, he would be fired. We should do the same with Roberts.

Most Kansans are good, salt-of-the-earth people. I can’t see them being duped by Orman, a Democrat pretending to be an independent.

Rank-and-file Democrats are always accusing business of greed. My lifetime observation is that people see their own bad characteristics in others they don’t understand. We rely on businesses for our wealth of choices and a good life.

I hate campaign seasons. The signs ruin the fall landscape.

Due to their decision to vacate the Carr brothers’ death penalties, I urge all voters to vote “no” in retaining Eric Rosen and Lee Johnson as Supreme Court justices. A message needs to be sent to the court that its decision was an affront to the legal system and the citizens.

I don’t trust a word that comes from the mouths of cannabis detractors. Their ignorant ideology serves no purpose other than to prop up a sense of personal superiority. Cannabis is a gift from the Creator for man to enjoy. It’s stupid not to enjoy it.

Ebola frightens me. Fortunately, I have my own hazmat suit. I got it for when I clean the cat’s litter box every six months.

After the Royals game Wednesday, the owners, coaches and players all stated that their success was due to the fans. Then I saw ticket prices started at more than $700 and season ticket holders received no preference. Am I missing something?

To the hot girl wearing the short skirt who was focused on her cellphone while walking behind a car backing out of a parking space: Girl, you are doomed to become extinct.
