TROY TOWNSHIP – Two Ohio men were allegedly caught carrying more than four kilos of marijuana in their car Thursday.
Illinois State Police Lt. Rich Wilk said a state trooper was on Interstate 80 near milepost 124, west of Interstate 55, at 5:15 p.m. when he noticed an eastbound silver Hyundai “following too closely.”
“When he had the vehicle pull over, the two occupants gave conflicting stories about where they were heading and were acting nervous,” Wilk said. The trooper called a canine unit to the scene and the dog “alerted” near the trunk of the car, Wilk said.
Police searched the vehicle and reportedly found 4,550 grams of marijuana in the trunk.
David R. Baughman, 28, of Akron, and Christopher J. Sedlock, of Tallmadge, were also carrying $11,173, Wilk said.
Both men were booked into the Will County jail on charges of marijuana trafficking, delivery of marijuana and marijuana possession.
Bond amounts for both men were set at $200,000. According to jail records, Sedlock was released on bail Saturday afternoon and Baughman was released Sunday night.
