Bad Headlines Create Misconceptions about Medical Marijuana

News stories like this are so important. They are needed to keep the public to keep it abreast of the latest information regarding medical marijuana. However, the news must be reported in a disinterested manner. A report with a headline entitled “Daycare owners say they smoke medical marijuana with kids in the house” is biased on its face. Its a non-story if a daycare owner uses Paxil to relieve anxiety. But the sensationalism surrounding medical marijuana is great news fodder. Reports like this will have a negative impact on medical marijuana because they reinforce stigmas and misconceptions.
