Marijuana Grow Found in Downtown LA Warehouse Fire

The sound of an explosion prompted calls to 911. And when L.A. City Fire Department crews arrived to 421 E. 6th Street, a six-story factory-warehouse in downtown L.A., they were met with flames on the third story, according to the LAFD.

Firefighters battling the blaze gone one more surprise: A “marijuana growing operation” inside the 1,500 sq. ft. space, the department says in a press release.

It happened at 8:17 p.m. on July 17, according to the LAFD.

It took 100 firefighters under the command of Battalion Chief Jeffrey Dapper 14 minutes to put the fire out, the department said.

After all was said and done there was only $1,500 worth of damage, fire officials estimated.

But a man and woman at the scene were both arrested.

The man was taken for allegedly committing arson and cultivating weed, the LAFD said. The woman had a warrant out for her arrest.

A victim-less crime? Think of the weed …
