Manh Duc Nong was last seen in Bedminster
Police say they fear for the safety of a missing Vietnamese child after he was discovered at a cannabis factory in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, earlier this week.
A major appeal is under way after the disappearance of Manh Duc Nong, who is thought to be 15, and was last seen in the Marksbury Road area of Bedminster on Thursday at about 9.30am.
Concerned police in two counties say that they fear for Manh Duc Nong’s safety after he ran off from the foster carers he was placed with. He was being looked after by them after being released by police officers who had busted the illegal drugs house in Wiltshire.
They fear the 15-year-old may have been the victim of human trafficking and are worried because he has no money and can speak little English.
They are appealing to everyone across Bristol and Wiltshire to check outhouses and sheds as they fear he may be sleeping rough.
The teenager was first discovered in a house in an otherwise ordinary residential street in Trowbridge on Tuesday morning when police officers raided it after being tipped off by neighbours there was a cannabis factory inside.
The youngster was arrested and taken in for questioning and then he was released the following day to emergency foster carers in Bedminster, Bristol.
“Manh speaks very little English and may appear confused or shy,” said a police spokesman.
“He is not thought to have any money with him.
“It is possible that he may try to use a train or bus and we are urging passengers on trains and buses in the Bristol area to remain vigilant.
“We would also urge people to check sheds, garages and outhouses as Manh may seek shelter overnight.
“If you see Manh, please contact Broadbury Road police station on the force number 101,” he added.
Police in Wiltshire are remaining vigilant in case he attempts to return to Trowbridge – it appears he had been living in the house that had been raided by police.
