Mother, medical marijuana activist responds to Gov. Fallin's claims

TULSA, Okla. —

An Oklahoma mother fighting to get marijuana oil for her young daughter responded to claims by Gov. Mary Fallin that she is scaring people.

Brittany Hardy is the mother of Jaqui Angel-Warrior, a young girl whose health issues and attempts at treatment FOX23 has been following for months. Hardy said she feels that Fallin is avoiding the issue of medical marijuana by attacking her personally.

“She’s had answers. She just doesn’t have the answers she wants,” Fallin said.

Earlier this week FOX23 asked Fallin why she does not want to personally meet with Hardy.

“Obviously she must be misinformed and she must not have the facts, and the scientific truth behind how this works for seizures and the proof that I have that it is working for my child,” Hardy said.

Fallin told FOX23 that she was concerned about Hardy’s previous drug and assault misdemeanor convictions and said she didn’t approve of the way Hardy tried to meet her in the past.

Hardy admitted that she served time in jail for possession of marijuana, but she said now she’s not smoking the drug and is focused on getting only the medical marijuana oil for her daughter.

“The governor needs to be worried about my daughter and all the sick children, and their needs and not something so petty, a thing of the past,” Hardy said.

Fallin said it is not within her authority to change federal drug laws, but did speak positively of Hardy by telling FOX23 that she sympathized with her for having a sick child.

“There’s a more productive way if you want to talk to somebody about some issue than to come up and be confrontational in a crowd, but I am sympathetic that she has a sick child,” Fallin said.

Hardy said she will continue to try to get a face-to-face meeting with Fallin, no matter how many times she is turned away.
