Woman complains to police about stolen cannabis

A woman has complained to police — and even volunteered to provide a statement in person — about cannabis in a stolen handbag.

Watch Commander Brendan Lindner said the 44-year-old female from Jingili, in Darwin’s northern suburbs — called police last night to report the theft of her handbag.

“She nominated a suspect who had attended her home as an invited guest as the likely offender. Cmmdr Lindner said the woman reported that her bag contained all the usual items including some cash — none of which she was too concerned about.

“What was of particular concern to her however, was cannabis that was inside,” he said.

Cmdr Lindner said the woman was “quite upset”, allegedly explaining that her handbag contained two “$50 bags” of cannabis.

“She was even willing to attend the police station at a later time to make a formal statement about her stolen drugs,” Cmdr Lindner said.

“The woman’s handbag remains outstanding and she unfortunately has no more drugs at home.

“If you know anyone who has cannabis for supply, please call police on 131444 and we’ll be only too happy to speak to them.”
